Dear Madam / Sir,

It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in the upcoming Timișoara Political Science Conference 2018.

The event aims to bring together researchers interested in all fields of political science. We welcome paper proposals from scholars on topics like comparative politics, international relations, political ideologies, higher education policies, public policies, political elites, political history, political parties, political psychology, social movements, scientometrics. The proposal should be no longer than one page and it should include a short Curriculum Vitae. All selected participants will be informed before the 15th of March 2018.

Selected papers will be published in a forthcoming volume of the Political Studies Forum, a journal edited by the Politics Department of the West University of Timisoara.

The conference will include panels like the following:

  • Political elites (panel coordinator: Dr. Laurențiu Ștefan, Presidency of Romania, Dr. Gabriela Ilonszki, Corvinus University of Budapest)
  • Politics and religion (panel coordinator: Prof. Dr. Silviu Rogobete, West University of Timișoara, Dr. Bogdan Tătaru-Cazaban, Institute for the History of Religions, Romanian Academy, Bucharest)
  • Social organizations and movements (panel coordinators: Prof. Dr. Liviu Andreescu, University of Bucharest, Lect. Dr. Viorel Proteasa, West University of Timișoara)
  • Political communication (panel coordinators: Lect. Dr. Lucian Vasile Szabo, West University of Timisoara)
  • Political philosophy (panel coordinator: Conf. Dr. Florin Lobonț, West University of Timișoara)
  • Quantitative models in political science (panel coordinator: Prof. Dr. Robert Reisz, West University of Timisoara, Prof. Dr. Mihai Păunescu, National School of Political and Administrative Studies)

These are just some of the scientific topics that will be addressed during the conference. We also welcome contributions on similar topics from the fields of political science and international relations.

Until now, three keynote speakers have announced their attendance to our conference: the father of network science, Prof. Dr. Albert-Laszlo Barabasi from the Northwestern University, U.S.A., the communication sociologist Prof. Dr. Sorin Adam Matei from Purdue University, U.S.A. and the philosopher, rector of the University of Bucharest and former minister of education, Prof. Dr. Mircea Dumitru.

The participation fee is 120 RON (30 Euro), and includes the program booklet, refreshments, coffee and two dinners. Unfortunately, the organizers cannot cover the costs for travel and accommodation, and we recommend you to apply to your own university for such funds. We can, however, assist you with reservations in the university dormitory and other practicalities.

The 15 th edition of the International Symposium “Ideologies, values and political behaviors in Central and Eastern Europe” Organized by the Politics Department, West University of Timisoara. The event aims to bring together researchers interested in Central and Eastern European politics. We welcome paper proposals from scholars on political topics in Central and Eastern Europe as detailed below. The proposal should be no longer than one page and it should include a short Curriculum Vitae. All selected participants will be informed before the 15th of March 2017. Selected papers will be published in a forthcoming volume of the Political Studies Forum, a journal edited by the Politics Department of the West University of Timisoara.
